Hi Dan! That's an interesting question... I think this has been built in a Lego simulator, so there's probably been no real pieces used. The software can normally export the project as an LXF file or similar so you can see how it was made. I wonder whether the OP on Eurobricks might be able to let you have the file.

Hi all, I'm so pleased that the link to my upscaled version found its way here and that it has been so well received. One day (time permitting) I hope to get round to doing a 1080P version using the improved audio by Bladez636 and maybe even at 50FPS. The original YouTube links on the OriginalTrilogy forum aren't working any more (the account got restricted due to copyright infringement), but I've uploaded a few videos to a Google Drive in case anyone is interested. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Kl9eI9vqUeitUoqIplVwpbjHBOWNKgKm/view?usp=drive_link This is the comparison between the UK DVD end credits and my first upscale attempt pieced together from the French DVDs. I later changed the drop shadow on the text and may have tweaked a couple of other bits. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uY-eLf8Q9A-aHbeHhNLq0kDp_bvvd6Ua/view?usp=drive_link And this is a 50FPS version of the opening titles, but at the standard PAL resolution (no audio on this one unfortunately). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_DjMhkSOtnNaw38pvWfagwxjhcXWjIDn/view?usp=drive_link And finally a very short snippet at 720P and 100FPS, looking incredibly smooth 😀

Hi Luis! Thanks for that information, I will have a look into that and expand the site's info accordingly ...

Given the size of the file, I believe this was done by (username) dym2005. He posted his progress at the originaltrilogy.com forums. He did indeed use the french release as the main source for the upscale, supplemented with the other releases where needed. It is indeed a stunning edition. Why official companies never went to this trouble is beyond me.

Hi Dan! Great to see you, I should think, whoever makes them could make a decent return on etsy or similar. I would like a set for sure. The flow of Star Fleet material has slowed up a good bit on twitter but I keep an eye out.

You're 100% right. The details really do stand out much clearer and better. I noticed a lot of things about the models of the ships for the first time when watching it, and I know that Gary Cass found it very useful for the reference work involved in creating 3D replicas. I think, part of it comes down to the AI technology becoming widely available more recently than even the vaguely recent and slightly interestingly-conceived SD Blu-Ray. I would say that this technology is likely to only get better over time, and that an ever sharper 1080p version might be possible, if someone made a project out of it, especially if the technology does mature further. I will say that, for 720p, this release is remarkably good - even on a big screen. I think it could be easily mistaken for 1080p.

Hi Kirara! This was very interesting to me too, since I had understood that effectively everything relating to the show had been destroyed in a fire at the studio and that this had taken place before the end of airing of Star Fleet on UK TV. This was what I was told had meant that no second series was possible, when the UK distributors requested that a second series be made. Perhaps there was a studio fire that did destroy too many sets and too much equipment to make a second season possible, and that X-Bomber and Dai-X were all that was left. Perhaps they were damaged, explaining why they had to be modified, (as shown). The other impression that I always got was that middling popularity (and also that the series wrapped itself up with a proper ending anyway) was the initial reason for them not producing a follow-up series, but that doesn't seem like a reason why Enoki would be unable to make a second season, upon request from the UK. But certainly, it seems that these items 'survived', if you can call that what they did with them. 😅 Another explanation could be that these models were returned to a studio prop warehouse after late 1983 (which is when the UK distributors could have been enquiring about making a second series) and a fire took place there. I certainly think that we could benefit from interviews with the original Japanese show makers, off the back of the recent expo in Japan, to understand better why no second season could have been made, when it looks as though these models could have been restored (or maybe even used as-is). It looks as though something was lost in communication between the UK distributors and the Japanese rights-holders back then, or was perhaps slightly misremembered. Equally, I would be very keen to know what the storyline, plot and details were of the write-up that the UK distributors had created for the second season that they sent to Japan, with a view to having it produced. I've never come across any detail at all about what their plans were for the second series.

It is more the "Dai-Y" than the "Dai-X"! 😄 This pictures are Amazing! I would never have suspected that The X-Bomber and Dai-x had a second life after the show! It looks like that the props didn't all burn in the fire... I wonder what happened to this red X-bomber and the Dai-Y after that...

Many thanks to him, and to you for sharing his work! This generous benefactor offered a great gift for all Star Fleet's fans! I would never expected to see Star Fleet in such good quality, we can see all the details on the models used in the serie. It's crazy that fans do for free a better job than the editors... It would have been interesting if some fans did the same treatment using the french DVD (considered to have the best image quality), the quality could have been insane ! But it should be a hard job to replace the french audio with the English one...

Hi Kirara! Thanks very much for letting me know, I wish I knew who had run the AI upscale on the DVD footage, so I could pass the feedback along. I vaguely remember discussion that it was a Star Fleet fan in Spain that had generated it.

Hi Kirara, Thanks for commenting! That is interesting information. I will give the 720p upscale of the show a little watch again tonight and see if I can spot this guy in the background. Thanks very much for the pointer!

Hi, Km Thanks very much for commenting! Totally agreed, mine arrived to the UK within a few days at most and it was well packaged. I think people would overlook a lot of the work that went into reconstructing the exhibits for the expo and that many of the items weren't 'just' replicas, without having a leaf through it. It wasn't super inexpensive, but was well worth it. It seems to be the next best thing to having seen the expo in-person. I plan to scan/photograph a few pages, to give people an impression of the contents, for the site, while not affecting the commercial potential for the expo organisers. 😀

Hi Dan! Thanks for commenting, Resolution of the files is 1280x720p. The entire series is about 13GB. It looks really very good. If you skip mega's payment plan options, you have a green "Continue Download" button at the bottom of the screen, which skips to their web-based download manager.
